K-pop Debut 2011: 20 girls & 7 boys [REVIEW]
As you may know, I’m a K-pop fan! *OMG really? Wow!!! Me too~* XD And you also may know I hate most of the girl groups in K-pop I mean, I’m not much of a fan of ‘em. XD No seriously… some are okay, some I do like, some I don’t, circle of life or~ music? Whatever! It’s recently come to my attention that there has been almost 30 groups debut already: 20 girl groups and only 7 boy groups!!! I realise my sources aren’t great and there could be more, but yeah, 27 major groups so far this year. I just realised how misleading my title was… *oops* XDDD No… not a 27 member mixed group, sorry! ^^”
Well to get back to the fact. I’ve heard of most, listened to probably less than half and I like: *minimal* ¬.¬ First let’s start with the girls:

As you can see, I’m not really helpful when it comes to girl groups! XDDD
Now for the boy groups…*non* surprisingly I liked all of the boy groups! (Or so I thought? o.o) As you know, I’ve already reviewed Block B’s comeback, but I’d also listened to another 3 of the 7 groups before today. Here’s my general reviews of B1A4, X-5 and Boyfriend:
X-5 » I heard rumours about X-5… they’re not bad actually, quite stylistic. I wouldn’t go crazy over ‘em but their songs are good. Their music always seems really familiar to me for some reason! XDDD I’d say if you like Battle, Cho Shin Sung (Supernova), Teen Top or MBLAQ they’re definately worth checking out! *SONG RECOMMENDATION : Fantasy*
Boyfriend » I didn’t expect them to be so young, when I saw them my reaction was: “OMO~ MOST OF ‘EM ARE LIKE 10!!! >.< Super young group??!!?!?” (One member is actually older than me though! XD) But after a while of watching their MV I went all: “Ooooh~ O.O *drool* Epic!!!” over the obscene amount of Faddy Robot they were promo-ing! XDDD Well anyway, if you like: SHU-I, U-Kiss or Infinite you shouldn’t miss out on Boyfriend!!! *SONG RECOMMENDATION : You & I*
B1A4 » “I love you-ooo-ooo-ooo-ooou~” XDDD They’re the most fun group so far this year and also I’d say the most vocally talented. Surprising pop-rock kinda debut! They cover a good range, so B2ST (BEAST), SHINee, ZE:A fans… no actually everyone take a listen!!! They’re catchy but with good lyric content! ^^*SONG RECOMMENDATION : ALL of them??? XDDD No seriously! But “Only One” is an amazing ballad for a rookie group.*
And the 3 groups that eluded me: A-peace, N-Train and G.IAM
A-peace » [formerly: Double B 21] As a Super Junior fan, you kinda step back and go: “21 members? ¬.¬” Are you kidding me?” I’d anticipated seeing this insane sounding concept wondering if they’d be a K-pop choir or something! XDDD But somewhere inbetween hearing about their upcoming debut and today, I never managed to see them! >.< I actually like them! XD I really wanted to see how they’d fit them all on stage!!! Can you imagine what Music Bank would look like? XDD They’re like a ‘K-pop Idol boys school’!!! Imagine… Performance 101: *point and smile! extend note~ heartbeat move and extend note~* XDDDDDD Ah~ so fun! I peeked at a fancam of “Lover Boy” on YT (of their showcase I guess) and the live was better than I expected (well, what I could hear past the fangirl screams was good! XD) Apparently they have three 7 member divisions? Well~ I’ll be on the lookout for them! ^^
N-Train » I vaguely remember them being mentioned a while back… just that they were a group to debut. I didn’t even know it was a guy group ‘til today!!! XD A friend sent me a link today to watch their debut. “One Last Cry” …quite nice song actually~ they are good singers, nice harmonising and strong controlled notes. I’m not fully convinced that the music is RnB… but their singing style sure! I like! ^^ Hm, one of the members reminds me of someone though… O.o
G.IAM » First I heard of them was today! When I saw their MV (if that IS their official MV… it’s like a BTS of a photoshoot) I thought I clicked the wrong video!!! “Aren’t they supposed to be an all boy group?” *close up of the members* “oh…. they are an all boy group……..” *oops?* ^^” No jokes!!! They don’t really stand out though >.< it’s all kinda ‘seen it all before, heard it all before’. It’s cute and catchy but not much else: “I love-you you~! I need-you you~! I want-you you~!” I’d still give them time before ruling them out though!!! \(>.<)/ Watch out for more releases from this group~
Well, that was my K-pop debut review for the first half of 2011!!!
Hope at least some of it was helpful (and hope I didn’t bore you too much! XD) If there’s anything worth reviewing in the 2nd half of the year it’ll be here! ^^ And any girl group recommendations for me *from the list* are definately welcomed!!! I’ll leave you with A-peace’s “Lover Boy” MV.
