[Review] VIXX: Value In Excelsis? O.o???

New male group *again* this year~

First thoughts: Initially I thought it would be a very typical k-popness song. When the song started, Ravi’s rapping reminded me of Baro (B1A4) and he kinda resembles him too ne? When N (…seriously? Just ‘N’ like the guy in Pokemon? O.o And is it just me, or does he look like that guy from “Boyfriend”? XDDD) anyway, when he starts the vocal portion, it gets quite interesting. It has a kind of retro feel in my opinion~ ^^ Their vocals are pretty strong ne? It’s catchy, yet not mindlessly repetitive!

Lyrics: From my limited Korean I think it’s like about the guy being like a superhero for the girl, flying (to London, New York & Paris) most likely figuratively; talking about wanting to do everything for the girl. “아찔아찔 Fantastic” I think is like… dizzily fantastic (the feeling the girl gets around him). I find it to be kind of cute~ cuz he’s promising to be her hero ne? ♥

MV: I actually quite liked it! The dance looked really fun and they didn’t ‘over pose’ in their solo shots! ^^ I really liked the pink/blue scenes and the room with the robot/mascot design!!! FYI: Anyone who wants to compare their mascot with B.A.P’s, it’s pointless!!! >.> Their bunny mascot (I don’t know the name) is STRONGLY reminiscent of Deadmau5 [click here] and VIXX’s robot mascot is VERY typical of robots in Mecha anime [like The Big O]. Back to the MV… I like when they give members separate styles! They all match, but they’re individuals!!! ^^

But the instrumental is great to dance to / as bkg music!!!

It started with that kind of ’80s theme that I really like!!!  Once the chorus vocals kick in… I was reminded of a SHINee song! *Goes to find the song* >.< It’s rare that I’d compare a rookie to such a successful, strong and established group… but the music style here, the vocal composition, there’s even parallels between the voice types!!! There’s a vagueness of “사.계.한 (Love Should Go On)” but it was the song “Real” that it reminded me of! Fellow ShaWols should remember that “Real” was an early song for SHINee too!!! I hope this means good things for VIXX too~ ^^
